Fifth round (second pick): Hamp Cheevers, CB, Boston College

Why Hamp Cheevers?

What kind of draft class would it be for the Broncos without a Boston College defensive back?

In the last three draft classes, the only one that didn’t include a defensive back from the BC program (2017) was the only really bad class.

The 2016 group — which included Justin Simmons — and the 2018 group — which included Isaac Yiadom — both look really strong.

Cheevers had a phenomenal junior season for the Eagles, picking off seven passes. He’s a smaller player but has phenomenal ball skills and would start off as a fourth or fifth corner for the Broncos with the ability to develop into a starter down the road.
