Miami Dolphins- Montez Sweat, EDGE, Mississippi State
This is a strange pick in my opinion. Kyler Murray is still on the board and the Miami Dolphins let him go by. Instead of drafting a quarterback, the Dolphins decide to get better on the defensive side of the football and draft Montez Sweat. He becomes the fourth pass rusher to come off the board. With the lack of sacks (31) Miami had in 2018, this move makes some sense.
Atlanta Falcons- Ed Oliver, DL, Houston
The Atlanta Falcons missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2015 season. It never hurts to beef up the defensive side of the football. And this draft is loaded with a lot of first round talent in that regards. The Falcons use this pick to draft Houston standout star Ed Oliver. He should improve the Falcons run defense.
Washington Redskins- Deionte Thompson, Safety, Alabama
With Alex Smith’s future uncertain, you would think the Washington Redskins would draft Kyler Murray here after other teams passed on him. But just like the rest of them, they pass on the Oklahoma quarterback. Instead, they improve their secondary by drafting Deionte Thompson.
Carolina Panthers- Jachai Polite, EDGE, Florida
Carolina had a bit of a struggle getting to the quarterback in 2018. This draft selection at the mid-way point of the draft should help them out. Jachai Polite might seem to have a nice enough name, but he can be ferocious when it comes to sacking the quarterback.
