Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Byron Murphy, CB, Washington
If you have not sensed the pattern yet, this draft will be heavy on the defensive side. However, I am not sure if defense is somewhere the Buccaneers should look at the first round. But since their offensive tackle was taken by the New York Jets, Tampa Bay could just be focusing on best player available here. This draft selection could hurt the Denver Broncos since they are in need of a cornerback.
Another surprise is that Murphy was the first corner taken off the board. With Greedy Williams and Deandre Baker still on the roster, it would have made sense to draft them. But, it is not our pick.
New York Giants- Clelin Ferrell, DE/OLB, Clemson
Well, with the New York Giants losing out on Dwayne Haskins, the thought would be that they would go after Drew Lock. But instead, they make a puzzling selection and beef up their defense. While the Giants will likely need some help on defense, it seems odd that they would draft a defensive player here.
Jacksonville Jaguars- Drew Lock, QB, Missouri
The Jacksonville Jaguars jump on the mistake that the Giants made and draft their quarterback. Blake Bortles might have had a decent 2017 season, but 2018 proved that he is the same Bortles we all know. He was even benched a few times this season for Cody Kessler.
Depending on what the Jaguars do with Bortles, it is likely that it will not be long until Lock becomes the starter for Jacksonville in 2019.
Detroit Lions- Rashan Gary, DL, Michigan
Reading all of the Lions reports, it seems as if Rashan Gary would be the ideal fit for the Detroit Lions. The team does need to improve on their interior defense and it looks as if Gary would be a solid fit for the organization. Now it all depends on if he falls to Detroit with the eight selection.
