5. Trade for Chicago Bears LB Danny Trevathan

Why not get a little sentimental here?

The Broncos are soon to be moving on from Brandon Marshall, a linebacker they picked up in 2013. One year before Marshall came to Denver, Danny Trevathan was drafted in the sixth round.

Trevathan emerged as one of the best off-ball linebackers in the league, both in terms of playing the run and playing in coverage.

He was so good, the Broncos couldn’t afford to re-sign him after they won Super Bowl 50, and he signed with the Chicago Bears.

He already has just one year left on his contract with the Bears, who are in a little bit of a pickle on the salary cap this offseason. With very little dead money on his deal, the Bears could look to trade Trevathan and it’s not impossible to think a team like the Broncos would be interested.

His base salary of $5.8 million is very affordable and the Broncos would be bringing back a familiar face as well as someone who worked really well with Fangio in Chicago.
