Denver Broncos mock draft: Loading up on Senior Bowl players
Fifth round: Mitch Wishnowsky, P, Utah
The Denver Broncos could stand to prioritize punters less than a year after they traded away Riley Dixon and signed Marquette King.
The experiment with King was a failure, and the Broncos ended up signing Colby Wadman in his place. Wadman did have some good punts but also some pretty awful ones in his rookie season with the Broncos, and there’s no doubt this team is going to be in the market.
Sometimes you have to draft guys to upgrade the position, and one player who has made a heck of an impression at the Senior Bowl is Mitch Wishnowsky, a captain at Utah where the Broncos obviously love to harvest young talent.
You just don’t realize how big of a deal having a good punter is until your team struggles to win the field position battle and that happened to the Broncos far too often this past season.
If you can get a true impact player in the punter spot, it can really affect the outcome of a game and Wishnowsky has the chance to be that type of player.
