Daniel Jones, Duke

Though the Duke Blue Devils athletic program is used to sending basketball players to the NBA as first-round picks, the football team doesn’t have a first-round prospect come around every year.

In the past 30 years, Duke has had two first-round picks, most recently in 2015 when the Detroit Lions selected Laken Tomlinson.

Daniel Jones will almost undoubtedly be the next first-rounder to come from the Blue Devils’ program, and rightly so.

The 6-foot-4 signal caller has tremendous athleticism and plays the game with solid mechanics, which should come as no surprise given he’s been coached up by David Cutcliffe, the QB guru who is one of the most trusted coaches of Peyton Manning (his position coach at Tennessee in the 90s).

Jones is a very intriguing prospect who played extremely well in the Blue Devils’ bowl game, showing off his ability to anticipate throwing windows and put touch on the football deep downfield.

He accounted for six total touchdowns against a pretty stingy Temple defense.

For the Broncos specifically, Jones may have a significant advocate in Peyton Manning.
