Second round: Isaiah Buggs, DL, Alabama

John Elway has used one of his top two selections on a defensive front seven player in every draft class except the 2014 group.

The likelihood of Elway going with a player on the defensive front in this year’s draft is pretty high.

Derek Wolfe and Adam Gotsis are each set for unrestricted free agency after the 2019 season, so the Broncos could look to the future a little bit with this pick.

Isaiah Buggs is one of a long line of Alabama defensive linemen with big-time NFL potential.

The top-ranked JUCO player in the country in 2017, Buggs joined the Alabama defensive line and had an immediate impact with 51 total tackles as a junior. He racked up 52 tackles this past season but exploded with 9.5 sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss.

That’s the kind of disruption and production the Broncos need from an every-down interior defensive lineman.

If he’s on the board in round two, he would be an excellent addition to the team.
