Latest with Gary Kubiak

The Broncos are allowing Gary Kubiak to interview with other teams.

It seems Kubiak’s top desire right now is to be an offensive coordinator, and he was set to become the OC for the Broncos but the team and Kubiak could not agree on his desire to bring back Rick Dennison and Brian Pariani, longtime assistants he’s coached with.

Because the Broncos are forward thinking and don’t want to bring those particular assistants back, the team and Kubiak have been amicable about alternate options.

Kubiak has an interview lined up with the Jacksonville Jaguars and will also apparently talk with the Minnesota Vikings.

This is such an interesting development because there were many fans who hated the fact (or what they thought was fact) that John Elway forced Vic Fangio to make Kubiak part of the staff as part of his being hired.

It’s now abundantly clear that that’s not the case. There were rumors back when Kubiak stepped down that part of the reason he decided to step down was that he wouldn’t fire Dennison and some of his other assistants after a disappointing finish to the 2016 season.

Of course, health played a major role in that, but we have no idea what some of the other factors were. That could have certainly been part of it, and it would make a lot of sense.

Kubiak is well-respected around the league and will likely have whatever OC job he covets most.
