Denver Broncos defensive lineman Derek Wolfe expressed excitement when talking about new head coach Vic Fangio.

The Denver Broncos have been through five different head coaches, including Eric Studesville on an interim basis, since firing Mike Shanahan in 2008.

They are now on their sixth, after hiring Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

Broncos defensive end Derek Wolfe feels like this move is the right move for the team. After having three previous head coaches himself since being drafted in 2012, it’s time to have some continuity at the head coaching position.

Wolfe is absolutely right. Last season, the Denver Broncos were close to winning many more games. But in each of those matchups, there were some things that just held them back.

Penalties, dropped passes, missed tackles… you name it.

Now, with a defensive-minded head coach, things should be much better on defense for the Broncos.

With the Chicago Bears in 2018, Fangio’s defense had 50 — FIFTY — sacks. They had Khalil Mack leading the way, but also some other very talented defensive players.

Fangio goes from one great defense to one that was spotty in 2018 but has the potential to be great.

Fangio could be the missing piece for this team. Despite this being his very first head coaching position, every coach has to start somewhere.

Denver has some great players on both sides of the ball. Fangio will be the defensive coordinator for the team, but also have more responsibilities than that.

Being able to go from Danny Trevathan, Roquan Smith, and all the other great talent on the Bears, to Von Miller, Wolfe, Bradley Chubb, and Chris Harris Jr is a gift to Fangio.

It is time for the Denver Broncos to settle with a head coach that will bring passion, leadership, fire, and make the Broncos organization a fun place to play.

It is time for the Broncos to get back to their winning ways. There will be changes this offseason on both sides of the ball, but I believe that this team will bring in the right guys for the job and figure out what went wrong the last few years.

That being said, if they are able to accomplish that, the sky’s the limit for this team. I personally love where the Broncos are headed.

I think that they have some really good players on both sides of the ball and just need to put the pieces together to become a team competing for a Super Bowl trophy.
