Fourth Round (two picks)

Amani Hooker, DB, Iowa // Khalen Saunders, DL, Western Illinois

The Broncos have two fourth-round picks in this year’s draft, and they are going to have to make them count.

With one of the picks, I would love to see the Broncos snatch up Iowa defensive back Amani Hooker.

They stole Josey Jewell with a fourth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, and they could potentially steal one of his former Hawkeyes teammates in the same round unless teams are updating their draft boards accordingly.

Iowa defensive backs have been vastly underrated coming out in the past decade. Look no further than guys like Micah Hyde and more recently Desmond King who are having excellent NFL careers despite low draft status. Even Josh Jackson was under-drafted in my opinion as a second-round pick of the Green Bay Packers after showing off incredible ball skills with the Hawkeyes.

Hooker has the ability to play all over the defensive formation as a nickel corner, box safety, free safety, or wherever you choose to play him. He attacks the line of scrimmage with confidence and does a great job finishing plays as a tackler. He could be a strong safety candidate for the Broncos.

Saunders is an FCS star from Western Illinois who is going to get a chance in the offseason circuit to really improve his draft stock.

He will play at the Senior Bowl and the 6-foot-2, 310 pound defensive tackle would have a chance to develop into a very strong interior player at the next level under Bill Kollar with the Broncos.
