Emmanuel Sanders hurt his Achilles in practice towards the end of the season. He gives an update on his status and when he could return to the field.

For a few years, Emmanuel Sanders has played a huge part in the Denver Broncos offense. Whenever the team needed a big play or an important catch to move the chains, he has been there.

2018 was a bit of a rollercoaster for him. He got bumped to the number one wide out after the Demaryius Thomas trade. Then he suffered a season ending Achilles injury that could likely put him on the shelves until about halfway through the 2019 season. Or will it?

When meeting with the media today, Emmanuel Sanders provided some news regarding his injury.

“I’ll definitely for sure be ready by Week one. This is a six month injury. I heal fast. I’m taking all the necessary steps to try to get back in five months.” Sanders said.

If his self-assessment holds true, that would be a big boost to the Denver Broncos offense. An Achilles injury is not easy to come back from. Just look at how long it took Eric Berry from the Kansas City Chiefs.

This could also determine what the Denver Broncos do in regards to free agency and the draft. They have a promising duo in Courtland Sutton and DaeSean Hamilton. The receiving corps is going to be a young one. It certainly would not hurt to have a veteran presence in Emmanuel Sanders to help lead the group.

It will be key on what the Denver Broncos decide to do. If the team exercises his option, he will make $1.5 million guaranteed. With how young the wide outs are, I believe it would be key to have his veteran presence on the team.

But it all depends on what the new coaches and front office want to do about it. I would be all for him staying around. But it will all come down to his health. Hopefully, his assessment comes true and we see Emmanuel Sanders sooner rather than later.
