Which Denver Broncos players have the most to prove over the course of the final two weeks of the season? This could be someone’s golden opportunity.

The Denver Broncos can’t make the playoffs in 2018. That simple fact stings, but there’s plenty more we have to learn about the Broncos between now and the end of the season.

With two division games and a chance to avoid a second straight losing season, the Broncos need some players to step up if they are going to head into the offseason on a positive note.

Which players really need to step up their game and prove they belong going forward? That list is extensive, but I’ve chosen a few players I think really need to stick out over the next couple of weeks to ensure their involvement with the team going forward.

Matt LaCosse, TE

The Broncos’ tight end position has been an unfortunate mess of injuries this season, and as a result, we’ve gotten to see extended snaps for Matt LaCosse.

The Broncos poached LaCosse off the New York Giants’ practice squad late last season, and he’s responded by playing a pretty critical role in the Broncos’ offense.

He has 19 catches this season and his first regular-season NFL  touchdown. LaCosse’s abilities as a pass catcher are evident, but we need to see some more. He was thrust into a starting role following Jeff Heuerman’s season-ending injury a few weeks back, and in the two games immediately following that devastating loss, LaCosse had one catch.

He bounced back with four receptions in the Broncos’ loss to the Browns, showing his abilities to play in-line and in the slot.

I want to see more involvement from LaCosse and more consistency.
