Denver Broncos fans are some of the most passionate and best fans in the world. Where did they rank among the best fan bases in the world?

The Denver Broncos have one of the most storied franchises and fan bases in pro sports.

Since Pat Bowlen took over the team as owner in 1984, the Broncos have sold out an NFL-high 298 straight games and have the longest sellout streak in NFL history in one city, selling out 401 games over 49 years in Denver.

The Broncos regularly invade opposing team stadiums, especially when the team travels to face the Chargers. In 2018, the presence of Broncos fans was so strong at University of Phoenix Stadium against the Cardinals, it sounded like a home game for Denver.

The Broncos routinely have one of the most popular teams in the NFL and that is largely due to the attention given to the team by its great fan base along with the rich tradition of winning.

This season, the Broncos won their 350th game in Bowlen’s ownership, and they did so in just 581 games. No NFL owner has ever achieved 350 victories in a shorter span of time or in fewer games.

Though the past two seasons have not been what the Broncos or their fans had hoped, the masses still fill up Broncos Stadium at Mile High and it is routinely one of the most difficult places in the NFL to play because of how rowdy they get.

Even with all of that being said, it wasn’t enough for the Broncos to be ranked higher than 18th (among NFL teams) on FanSided’s list of the top 250 fandoms in the world, and the Broncos ranked 152nd overall (down 68 spots from last year).

What’s worse, Broncos Country ranks behind Chiefs Kingdom and Raider Nation on this list, though thankfully no one is under any illusion that Chargers fans deserved to be on it at all.

All kidding aside, this is a phenomenal list put together by FanSided, though it is disappointing to see Broncos Country drop nearly 70 spots from one year to the next. The Cleveland Browns fan base was voted the top overall fan base not just in the NFL, but in all of fandom in general.

This list includes celebrity fan followings, TV shows, movies, and all other sports. For Broncos Country to be added to the list is an accomplishment in itself because not every NFL team made it.

With that being said, the Broncos have never been higher than 5th among NFL teams and in 2016 ranked 66th overall. That list was put out shortly after the team won its third Super Bowl title.

Broncos Country knows it is a major weapon against opponents coming into Denver and even at times when the Broncos are playing on the road. This is one of the most passionate groups of fans in all of sports though their worldwide popularity is clearly not as high as it could be.

Perhaps not having a star quarterback like Peyton Manning affects the overall ranking, or maybe the fact that the Broncos don’t often suffer through much losing contributes to the fact that the dedication of the fans is really consistent through the years, as evidenced by the NFL-record sellout numbers.

While the Broncos rank pretty low on this list, it’s an honor to be part and fun to look through some of the rankings to see which fan bases bring a lot of passion to the table.
