Chad Hansen

The Broncos’ practice squad has consistently produced active roster-caliber players.

Over the past couple of weeks, former Cal receiver and New York Jets fourth-round pick in 2017 Chad Hansen has been working on the Broncos’ practice squad.

The team has been consistent this season promoting from within, but you have to wonder if Hansen’s limited time on the practice squad is enough at this point that they would trust him with a gameday role.

After receiving virtually no interest coming out of high school, Hansen blew up near the end of his college career, earning a scholarship offer from Cal and having a huge senior season with Davis Webb throwing him passes.

Even as a former fourth-rounder, he hasn’t been able to produce at the same level in the NFL as he did in college, but the talent is certainly there. The Broncos liked him enough to put him on the practice squad and because of the nature of the league, that really is a clear indicator of the faith they have in his ability to contribute.

Based on the team’s history of promoting from within, Hansen seems like a very likely candidate.
