Dennis Green Award: Bradley Chubb, DE/OLB
The late, great Dennis Green once said that the (Chicago) Bears are ‘who we thought they were’.
Which Broncos rookie has been who we thought they were? That is undoubtedly Mr. Consistent, Bradley Chubb.
Chubb had 10 sacks as a junior at North Carolina State, and another 10 sacks as a senior. He’s got 10 sacks now as a Denver Broncos rookie, and has his eyes on at least another five more.
If Chubb can find a way to notch five sacks in the Broncos’ final four games of the season, he will have broken and set the record for sacks in a season by a rookie, currently held by former Titans first-round pick Jevon Kearse (1999).
Chubb has provided the Broncos with an elite pass rush option on the opposite side of the field from Von Miller, ranking in the top 10 in the NFL in total pressures his rookie season and adding 11 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles.
Chubb is who the Broncos thought he would be, and that’s a very good thing.
