Phillip Lindsay, RB

Somebody feed Phil.

The Denver Broncos’ rookie running back had his best, most productive game of the 2018 season, spitting in the face of the dreaded ‘rookie wall’ to the tune of 19 carries for 157 yards and two touchdowns.

Lindsay averaged 8.3 yards per carry in this game, bringing his season average above six yards per rush.

Fellow rookie Royce Freeman added 48 tough yards on 12 carries, but the story of this game was Lindsay.

He started the game off with some really impressive big chunk runs, but there was none more impressive than his 65-yard touchdown sprint. The blocking on the play by Garett Bolles and wide receivers Emmanuel Sanders and Courtland Sutton to pave the way for the star rookie.

Lindsay has quickly become a household name in Denver after not being invited to the Scouting Combine and going undrafted following a stellar career at Colorado.

The rest of the NFL’s loss is the Broncos’ gain as Lindsay is rapidly approaching 1,000 yards on the season, and with roughly 175 more yards, he would eclipse the NFL’s record for rushing yards by an undrafted back in their rookie season.

He is also very close to becoming the second different former undrafted running back in consecutive seasons (C.J. Anderson) to eclipse 1,000 yards with the Broncos.

I am not sure that’s ever been done before in the NFL.
