Case Keenum

Case Keenum is not putting up video game numbers. The Broncos do not appear to be a team that can push the ball around the field at will with their passing game like the Chiefs or even the team they played Sunday, the Steelers.

Keenum was not billed as an air-raid quarterback when he came to Denver this past offseason, but a consummate professional, smart player, and someone who could help the team win games by minimizing mistakes.

Over the first half of the season, everyone was wondering where in the world that guy went. Keenum had a streak of eight games to open the season with an interception, and it seemed a foregone conclusion that he would be among the league leaders in that category by season’s end.

Over the past three weeks, however, Keenum’s decision-making has improved, and he has now gone three straight games without throwing an interception. It’s no coincidence the Broncos are 2-1 in those games with the only loss coming off of a missed field goal against Houston.

Keenum was once again very solid against the Steelers, throwing two touchdown passes and making good decisions with the ball when under pressure. He helped put the Broncos in position to win and did a great job of going through his progressions, not panicking, and spreading the ball around to different receivers.
