The NFL has rewarded Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller for his performance in week 11 vs the Chargers.
Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller has had a Hall of Fame-worthy career since being drafted second overall in the 2011 draft.
His performance against the Los Angeles Chargers earned him yet another award: this time, AFC defensive player of the week honors.
Miller intercepted a Philip Rivers pass and returned it 42 yards, setting up a touchdown run by rookie running back Royce Freeman.
The Broncos star pass rusher has recorded 93.5 regular season sacks in his 8-year career. He has averaged 11.6 sacks per season in his career, which is tremendous.
Overall (including playoffs), Miller has recorded 100 career sacks. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady recently congratulated Miller for the achievement.
This is the fourth time in his career that he has won this weekly award. No other player in Denver Broncos history has won it as many times as Miller.
Miller has been rewarded for his performance many times. His career accomplishments include:
- Super Bowl 50 Champion
- Super Bowl 50 Most Valuable Player
- 6-time Pro Bowler
- 3-time first-team All-Pro
- 3-time second-team All-Pro
- NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year (2011)
Miller has been part of some great teams, including the 2015 season in which he helped lead the Broncos to Super Bowl 50. He recorded 13.5 sacks in that year, the third-most of his career.
The linebacker has many more years of great football to play. He is only 29-years old and already has 100 sacks.
If he continues to perform the way he has over the first stretch of his career, he could find himself near (or at) the top of the NFL career sacks record (Bruce Smith, 200 sacks).
Miller has been a top defensive player throughout his entire career. It is an honor to be able to witness this greatness from one of the best Denver Broncos players in history.
