Denver Broncos: 5 things we learned in win vs. Chargers

What did we learn about the Denver Broncos in their big win over the Los Angeles Chargers? Here are five things to take away from Sunday’s game.

The Denver Broncos now have three victories this season in impressive, come-from-behind fashion.

Their two victories to start the season came after slow starts and their fourth victory of the season — so far — was probably their best yet.

Down 19-7 to the Los Angeles Chargers on the road, the Broncos looked like fish in a barrel. Case Keenum and the offense didn’t have anything going consistently aside from Phillip Lindsay, and the defense was giving up far too many third downs to stay in a close game.

Then Von Miller intercepted a Philip Rivers pass setting up a Royce Freeman touchdown run, and all of a sudden, the Broncos were back in it.

Another touchdown by Phillip Lindsay gave the Broncos the lead late before the Chargers marched down the field to take the lead with a field goal.

The Broncos got the ball beyond midfield, but were unable to get into field goal range and had to punt late in the fourth quarter to an offense they couldn’t stop. After using two of their three timeouts, the Broncos appeared on their way to their seventh loss of the season, when the defense tightened up and the Chargers poorly managed the clock, setting Denver up with nearly two minutes to come back and win.

Case Keenum orchestrated a brilliant fourth-quarter drive, making some great throws to get the ball in Brandon McManus’ chip-shot range so the Broncos could win the game.

It was a thrilling finish after a dismal start, and the Broncos once again have inspired some confidence in a very skeptical fan base, much of which is ready to move on to a new coaching staff and a new future.

The Broncos’ season still has six games left, however, and they still have the chance to write their own story. What did we learn from this Chargers game and what can we expect moving forward?
