Broncos at Chargers: Week Eleven Madden Simulation
By Tylor Walden
Time for a little Madden simulation. How do myself and the computer see the battle between the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers playing out?
We have reached week eleven in the NFL. The Denver Broncos have not faired well in reality. In our Madden games, they have done pretty well. The team is sitting at 7-2 with their only losses to the Rams and Texans.
What I would do to have that be the reality. But Denver is 3-6, nothing we can do about that. Now the question is can Denver move to 8-2 in our simulation? Let’s find out as they take on the Los Angeles Chargers.
I will get this out of the way. It was an ugly game. The first quarter did not provide any scoring. Denver drove down the field on the first possession, but a Phillip Lindsay fumble halted the drive. Luckily, the Chargers couldn’t do anything with it and were forced to punt.
The second quarter was also quiet for the most part. Both teams traded turnovers. An Adam Jones interception helped set the stage for the first score of the game. In the dying seconds of the first half, Brandon McManus kicked a field goal to give the Broncos a 3-0 lead at the half.
The second half started in a big way for the Broncos. The Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller intercepted Phillip Rivers early. However, Denver would turn it right back over as Keenum threw his second interception of the evening. The third quarter did not provide any scoring.
The fourth quarter was a mess. It was basically teams trading turnovers. I did tell you it was an ugly game. The Chargers were lining up to tie the game on a field goal. Denver had other ideas.
But Keenum would give the ball back on an interception. And the Chargers marched down and kicked the field goal to tie the game. Denver went into two minute drill mode. And with just seconds left in the game, Keenum found Courtland Sutton wide open. He would catch and drag a defender into the end zone! It was the first touchdown of the game.
There were a few seconds left for the Chargers to get something done to force overtime. But Pacman Jones’ second interception sealed the deal.
I told you it was an ugly game. But it results in a win for the Denver Broncos. Adam Jones’ two interceptions came at critical times. Courtland Sutton played the role of hero in this one with his game winning touchdown reception.
With the win, Denver moves to 8-2 in Madden. If only that would be the case in reality. But the team got a hard fought win.
Tune in next week as the Broncos take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
