Second round: Yodny Cajuste, OT, West Virginia
Why would the Broncos draft Cajuste?
Whoever the Broncos’ quarterback is going to be, they’re going to need someone to keep them upright.
The Broncos have struggled through injuries on the offensive line all season and with Jared Veldheer hitting free agency after the season (he could be brought back), the right tackle position — in particular — is in question.
That’s where Yodny Cajuste enters the picture. He’s been one of the best pass protectors in college football over the past few seasons and his work is being highlighted this season thanks to the talent of Will Grier and the rest of West Virginia’s big-time skill position players.
Cajuste is a model of consistency at right tackle and at the top of the second round would give the Broncos a player who could start at that position immediately.
