With reports indicating that Le’Veon Bell will not play in 2018, it is likely he could be the hottest name in free agency. The Broncos should avoid him.

Perhaps the biggest name that could surface in free agency next season might not suit up in 2018. Things could change between now and Tuesday for Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell, but as we approach the deadline, it is looking less likely we will see the star running back this year.

There could be a chance that the Steelers do not pay him and let him walk in free agency. Bell refuses to play since he was hit with the franchise tag for the second consecutive season. If he decides not to report, his career with the Steelers is likely over.

So, where do the Denver Broncos fit in all of this? Bell will likely be looking for his next team. But I do not believe the Broncos should pursue him in free agency.

For obvious reasons, he will cost too much to have on the roster. Denver will have some money to spend during the 2019 offseason. But it makes little to no sense to have a most of the money tied up to multiple players. Von Miller already makes quite a bit and Case Keenum is taking up more.

Next. When should John Elway draft a new quarterback. dark

Plus, the Broncos have two promising backs in Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman. I believe both players can provide the thunder and lightning that Denver needs at the running back position.

Those reasons alone are why Denver should not pursue Le’Veon Bell. They have other pressing needs. Running back certainly is not one of them. While it would be nice to have a solid runner in Bell, it just does not make sense.

Hopefully he will find a job in the NFL. I do not think it will take long. But I just do not see Denver being his new home in 2019.
