With NFL trade deadline rumors swirling, is it possible the Denver Broncos have just used the deadline to galvanize the roster?

With all of the craziness surrounding the Denver Broncos right now, the NFL trade deadline feels like a very distant priority.

Yet the trade deadline looms with just under a week for teams to make deals, and the Denver Broncos will be a primary topic of discussion as that deadline closes in. Will the team trade any players?

We’ve discussed at length the number of players the Broncos could be interested in dealing or acquiring and even came up with some ideas of moves they could make.

The Broncos undoubtedly have some players who would be available for the right price, but trade rumors pop up every single year and more often than not, the biggest rumored moves never end up happening.

If that’s the case, why would the Broncos have allowed so many prominent names to leak to the media as available for trade, or at the very least, that teams were calling and they were listening?

Part of the reason, or maybe the reason entirely, is because the Broncos wanted to galvanize their roster.

Ahead of the biggest game of the season in Kansas City, the Broncos are fresh off of one of the most impressive wins in the last three seasons. The team has not been the sum of its parts this season, with much more individual success than overall team success.

Even though that has been the case, the Broncos’ four losses include two games against arguably the two best teams in the NFL (Chiefs and Rams) which they lost by a combined seven points. Though they had their butts kicked on the road in Baltimore and New York, the Broncos have shown resilience this season and an ability to compete better than most with two of the best teams in the league.

So perhaps this year’s trade deadline is being used by the team as a way to rally and galvanize the players who maybe need a reminder of how good they are. Or, at least, how good they can be.

If the Broncos are unable to come away from Kansas City with a victory, all of this could change and the Broncos could end up being sellers, but maybe these rumors will put a big enough chip on the players’ shoulders that they go into Kansas City’s house and get a big win.

Crazier things have happened.
