Teams in the playoff race must be looking to add to their pass rush depth as the season progresses, and right now, the Los Angeles Rams are lacking off the edge.

They have 19 sacks so far this season, four of which just came in one game from Aaron Donald against the hapless San Francisco 49ers. Without that outlier, the Rams’ pass rush isn’t getting home enough.

Shane Ray is a player who can get home as a pass rusher and has a history with Wade Phillips, the defensive coordinator in Los Angeles.

Draft picks are luxuries for the Rams at this point in time, and trading for Ray now could give them an edge to signing him in the offseason. He would be a great fit there and the Broncos have to make a decision at some point about whether or not they are going to try and keep one, both, or neither of Ray or Shaquil Barrett.

If the Broncos could get a 4th-round pick for Ray, that’s probably a lot better than they would get in terms of a 2020 compensatory selection given his injury history and the likelihood that he will sign a prove-it deal in the offseason.
