Denver Broncos: Fanzone interview with Kyla Antoinette
By Tylor Walden
On the next edition of the Denver Broncos fanzone, I chat with Predominantly Orange writer Kyla Antoinette and get her takes on the team and Sunday’s game.
The Denver Broncos take on the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. It has not been an easy time for the team in the last three games. The offense is a mess, the defense has not been performing up to expectation, and coaching plays and calls have been questionable.
And it does not get any easier as the Los Angeles Rams come into town. Wade Phillips makes his return to Denver with a solid defense. Their offense is full of playmakers led by third year quarterback Jared Goff and star running back Todd Gurley III.
For the Broncos to win this game, they will need to play a near perfect game. Facing off an undefeated team that seems difficult to stop will really test them. However, this game could be closer than people think. There is a slight chance that Denver can pull it off. It will not be easy, but on any given Sunday, it is possible.
On this edition of the Denver Broncos fanzone, I chat with Kyla Antoinette who is one of the writers here at Predominantly Orange. Let us see what she has to say about the Broncos and the game on Sunday.
The Denver Broncos lost their third straight game in devastating fashion. If you had to pick one thing that stood out for you in the loss, what would it be?
Case Keenum was not protected as much in the game. He was sacked by the Jets four times during the game. The offensive line, especially Garett Bolles, have been committing untimely penalties. Phillip Lindsay averages 3.5 yards per rush when running to the left near the left tackle position. And according to Pro Football Focus, it is less yards per attempt than when he is running towards any other position.
And with the issues in the running game and pass protection, Case Keenum is not the problem. The offensive line has been the issue for the past three seasons, in my opinion. Either that or the coaching.
Despite the loss, Case Keenum looked okay, throwing for 377 yards. However, most of it was when Denver was behind. What are your thoughts on Keenum through the first five games?
He is not the same quarterback than he was when he was with the Minnesota Vikings. He was a much better quarterback when he was with the Vikings. I am not sure if it is the playcalling, perhaps they are not on the same page. It just seems to me that he is not the same quarterback. Keenum accepts the blame, but it is not all on him. I do believe it is all on coaching.
What do you believe the Broncos need to do to right the ship on this three game losing streak?
The only way that they can right this ship is to start winning games. If they don’t, heads better start rolling. Although, I am not certain that they will this week. I am not holding my breath.
What is your favorite Denver Broncos memory of all time?
The Super Bowl 50 parade in Denver is one of my all time favorite memories. I went with my cousin and we were within inches of the path of the parade. There was even a moment where Brandon Marshall and Andre Caldwell looked right at me. I even had Darius Kligo take a picture in my direction. It was an amazing day.
The Denver Broncos welcome in the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. What do you think the Broncos need to do to secure the win?
Protect Case Keenum and just getting on the same page. The defense is reading our mail. It is almost like they know what play we are going to run. They are either reading Keenum’s eyes or the play calling is too obvious. I believe it is the latter.
Thank You Kyla for taking the time out to chat with me. Hopefully Denver can get something going soon.
