Chiefs @ Patriots

Graham Tiedtke

The New England Patriots have lost two games so far this season, and not to teams I would expect: the Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Kansas City Chiefs have won all of their games in 2018. I strongly believe that their streak ends when they travel to Foxboro.

On paper, this matchup would be the toughest for the Chiefs so far this season. The reason? The reason is Tom Brady, who has carried the Patriots offense since Drew Bledsoe’s terrible injury back in 2001.

Kansas City’s defense is absolutely terrible. Mix that with Brady on the other side of the line of scrimmage and there could ultimately be a blowout in favour of the home team in Foxboro.

Sunday Night football will be in Gillette Stadium, as the New England Patriots (3-2) host the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs (5-0).

This will be young gunslinger and Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ biggest challenge yet.

While the Patriots are off to a slow start, they always play well at home, and are trying to prevent dropping to .500 record on the season. But taking this game at home will be no easy task.

They have the job of stopping one of the best offenses in the league that is absolutely loaded with weapons. The Chiefs are top 10 in the NFL in both rushing and passing, and it’s no wonder why.

With versatile wideout Tyreek Hill, and speed back Kareem Hunt being led by the ever illusive Patrick Mahomes, defenses around the league have been in fits trying to figure this team out.

Also, let’s not forget about the best tight end in football, Travis Kelce (yes, he is better than Gronk). Fortunately for the Patriots, the Chiefs boast the worst defense in the league.

The key for the Pats in this one is to make Mahomes nervous. Throw pressure in his face, force him to make plays, and force him to play from behind. If the Chiefs have to play from behind, that’s one less weapon (Kareem Hunt) to worry about.

Use your big tight end in Gronkowski to expose that weak defense, and force the game into a shootout.

Even with Tom Brady and home field advantage, I think the Chiefs will remain perfect.
