Key Matchups

Broncos and Rams vs. Mother Nature

Mother nature makes a rare appearance here as both the Broncos and Rams are likely facing the elements on Sunday. The forecast for the game is calling for snow that at least will last until halftime. One-to-three inches is expected.

This could slow down the Rams high powered passing attack. I would expect to see both teams use heavy doses of Todd Gurley III for the Rams and Royce Freeman and Phillip Lindsay for the Denver Broncos.

Broncos run defense vs. Todd Gurley III

One of the top running backs in the league comes to Denver. And after a poor showing against the Jets, the Broncos need to be on top of their game. With the weather playing a factor, Gurley could get the football often.

Gurley has already ran for seven touchdowns and 415 yards in the first five games. If he is able to score early and often, the Broncos might have a tough time coming back.

X-Factor- Royce Freeman

There is no sugar coating how bad the Denver Broncos passing attack has been. Case Keenum has been wildly inconsistent through the first five games. He did record 377 yards passing in the last game, but the majority came when Denver was attempting to play catch up.

I will once again factor in the early weather. How each team game plans for at least the first 30 minutes will play a huge role. Denver needs to feed the football to their running backs from the get go. Royce Freeman plays as the cowback.

If he is able to break past the Rams run defense that features players like Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh, then it will set the pace for the rest of the game.
