NFL Week Five picks part one

Thursday, October 4th
Indianapolis @ New England
New England is coming off a blowout win over the Dolphins while the Colts are trying to regain composure after blowing a game against the Texans. Despite all of that, this is too big of a spread to bet against a Colts team that is starting to right the ship on offense under Andrew Luck. New England will win, but it’ll be by less than 10.
Line: New England -10
Pick: Indianapolis

Sunday, October 7th
Jacksonville @ Kansas City
Kansas City struggled on the road with a tough Denver crowd, and the Denver defense did a fantastic job of “limiting” the Chiefs offense to 27 points. Patrick Mahomes looked like the real deal, and in the face of adversity showed exactly why Andy Reid let go of Alex Smith.
Although this game is in Kansas City, the Jaguars defense is going to cause more fits than Denver did and Blake Bortles is oddly enough looked halfway decent this season. It’s a toss up to me on who wins but I don’t believe the Chiefs can cover three points.
Line: Kansas City -3
Pick: Jacksonville

Tennessee @ Buffalo
Buffalo is favored by 3.5 at home after being embarrassed by the Packers last weekend. I have no idea what to make of this team considering they blew out Minnesota the week prior. I’m going to go with the Minnesota game being a fluke.
Tennessee’s defense is sneaky good and will easily contain Josh Allen and the Bills.
Line: Buffalo +3.5
Pick: Tennessee

Atlanta @ Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh got handled by the Ravens Sunday night and through four games this team could easily be 0-4. Meanwhile, the Falcons are 1-3 with all three losses coming by a combined 13 points. That offense has been dealing though with Matt Ryan building a rapport with rookie Calvin Ridley quickly, and it will be too much for the Steelers at home.
Line: Pittsburgh -3
Pick: Atlanta

Green Bay @ Detroit
This game is quite the toss-up. The Lions could be entering this game winless and the Packers could very easily be 1-3 instead of 2-1-1. Both teams have shown quite a few flaws, but I will always err on the side of Aaron Rodgers with this low of a spread.
Line: Detroit +1.5
Pick: Green Bay

Baltimore @ Cleveland
Don’t look now, but the Cleveland Browns have themselves a quarterback. Sure, Baker may have turned the ball over a few times, but the offense showed signs of life I haven’t seen in a long time from the Browns.
The defense, despite getting torn up by Jon Gruden’s Raiders last weekend is a lot better than it’s shown as well. The dog pound will be bumping Sunday and Baker is going to get his first win as a starter in the NFL.
Line: Cleveland +3
Pick: Cleveland

New York Giants @ Carolina
Neither team has really impressed me much, but I don’t think Carolina’s offense can put up enough points to account for their defensive woes.
Line: Carolina -7
Pick: New York Giants
