Denver Broncos: Rookie report card through four weeks of 2018
The Rest
Keishawn Bierria, LB
Bierria has primarily played special teams for the Broncos, but he’s been a key piece of that unit and is making an impact every single game. He hasn’t made any splash plays as Joe Jones has been, but Bierria is slowly but surely acclimating himself to the NFL.
Troy Fumagalli, TE
The Broncos could certainly use Fumagalli about now, couldn’t they? Fumagalli is out for the season with an injury, just like another former Big Ten star Jake Butt. With Fumagalli on IR, hopefully we start hearing (or seeing on social media) some positive updates on his health.
Dave Williams, RB
The Broncos drafted Williams in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft, and he’s nestled safely on the practice squad for now. He’s got an intriguing blend of speed and power, and if the Broncos sustain an injury at running back, his number will be called.
Jeff Holland, OLB
Similar to Williams, Holland will likely have his number called if the Broncos have an injury at his position, but on most teams, he probably would have made the active 53-man roster. Denver has been able to sneak him on the practice squad like they did Shaquil Barrett once upon a time.
Sam Jones, OL
Jones has been a gameday inactive but he was too good in the preseason for the Broncos to try and get him on the practice squad. He will potentially factor into the rotation next year as Max Garcia and Matt Paradis are both on expiring contracts.
Alexander Johnson, LB
The Broncos kept Johnson on the active roster despite very limited preseason reps, and he has yet to be active on gameday. That time will come, however, as Johnson has a lot of talent and the Broncos like him a lot. He may have to wait for an injury at the linebacker position to get a shot.
