Phillip Lindsay, RB
Key Stats: 45 carries, 267 yards (5.9 average), 1 rushing touchdown; 5 receptions, 45 yards, 1 receiving touchdown
Even though he’s listed as the third running back on the depth chart, Phillip Lindsay has been the number one most utilized offensive playmaker for the Denver Broncos this season.
His 50 touches lead the team despite being kicked out of the game before halftime in Baltimore.
What a difference-maker the undrafted rookie has been so far for the Broncos, his hometown team.
Lindsay scored the Broncos’ first touchdown of the regular season and really set the tone for what he’s been able to do in the offense so far. He’s not a gimmick player. He can run tough between the tackles, he is physical, and he is extremely fast.
That should have been obvious based on Lindsay’s college tape at Colorado, but the NFL scouting world didn’t really think much of him because of his size.
He’s second among rookies (behind his teammate Royce Freeman) with 14 first down runs and is third among rookie runners with seven runs of 10 or more yards, including a 53-yard burst.
Lindsay looks like a star.
