2016: Chiefs @ Broncos (November 27, week 12)
Of all the losses over the last three seasons (2018 included), this one is the most heartbreaking and perhaps the biggest turning point for the Broncos in the post-Manning era.
Trevor Siemian had taken Manning’s place as starting quarterback of the Broncos, and at this point, the team wasn’t doing all that bad.
Both the Broncos and Chiefs were 7-3 at this point in time and this game came down to some overtime theatrics. The Broncos had multiple chances to seal this game and improve to 8-3 on the season, which would have likely propelled them to a playoff berth.
Instead, the Chiefs shocked the Broncos, who took a three-point lead in overtime, gave it back, and then missed a really long field goal, setting up the Chiefs in great field position, which they took advantage of.
This back-and-forth classic matchup is still a hard pill to swallow. It was really the beginning of the end for Trevor Siemian in Denver, as the Broncos would go on to win just two more games this season and miss the playoffs for the first time since 2010.
