Marquette King, P
The Denver Broncos brought in Marquette King and traded Riley Dixon because King was expected to be a major difference maker.
Through three games, he’s just been average.
King had a whopping seven punts against the Baltimore Ravens and granted the conditions weren’t overly favorable, but King has to find a way to flip the field for the Broncos’ defense, which obviously works better on longer fields (just like every other defense).
To King’s credit, he’s in the top 10 in the NFL with six punts inside the opponent’s 20-yard line, and the Broncos’ coverage on King’s punts has been outstanding, averaging 4.3 yards per return (tied for 6th in the NFL).
In this game against the Ravens, however, even the announcers made a point to make a comment about how poor King was punting the ball. Vance Joseph acknowledged Monday as well, stating that King has to do his job better just like corners have to be better and the offensive line has to be better.
I want to see some dances after great, game-altering punts (unless, you know, the Broncos can just score the ball more).
