Josey Jewell saw more defensive snaps in this game than in the previous two games combined after Brandon Marshall wasn’t able to practice most of the week. The Broncos utilized Jewell in their base/nickel formation and Marshall in their dime package.

Jewell delivered.

He was among the team’s leaders in tackles with eight, and had four stops in the running game, a tackle for loss on a passing play by the Ravens, and a pass breakup.

It wasn’t surprising to anyone to see Jewell flying around the field making plays and he may have earned himself a more prominent role going forward. Simply put, he’s one of the team’s best players defensively and he proved it on Sunday.

He also continues to play extremely well on special teams and led the Broncos in special teams snaps.

Jewell’s instinctive style of play will earn him more and more snaps as the season goes along. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him up to 55-60 percent of the overall defensive snaps by season’s end.
