Isaac Yiadom, CB

The Denver Broncos’ secondary needs some help — clearly — after three weeks of regular season play, but I’m not going to grade Isaac Yiadom’s rookie debut on a curve just because the rest of the unit really has struggled this season.

Yiadom gave up a 44-yard play to one of the fastest receivers in the NFL in John Brown down the right sideline and wasn’t in terrible position on the play (though he was clearly beaten). Joe Flacco led Brown perfectly, and Brown made a good over-the-shoulder catch.

The very next play, Yiadom was all over Michael Crabtree and in an excellent position in coverage as the Ravens tried to go after him two plays in a row.

He ended up allowing four receptions for 68 yards (44 of which came on one play), so outside of that one deep ball, Yiadom played really respectable football considering the circumstances and he got better as the game went on, giving up three catches for 24 yards after that initial big play.

He finished with four tackles and a solid play in the running game, and outside of the one big play he gave up, this was a solid debut for Yiadom. He was better than Tramaine Brock — who got injured — has been.

Yiadom’s grade is affected by the big play he allowed. He may have earned a B+ grade if not for that play.
