Fourth Quarter

Having imposed their will on the Ravens offense, the Broncos were looking to shut the door. However, it would not be easy. With Denver driving to put the final nail in the coffin, a pass from Case Keenum was intercepted at the goal line by Eric Weddle. Not sure how he came up with the interception. Keenum did save a potential pick six by tackling Weddle.

It proved to work as the Ravens turned the ball over on downs inside their own territory. Case Keenum used his legs on the next drive, looking to get out of bounds inside the five yard line. However, he was stripped of the ball and somehow a Ravens defender kept it from going out of bounds and recovered it.

Baltimore was given another fighting chance to make this a game. However, just before the two minute warning, Bradley Chubb made sure that the goose egg remained with Baltimore. After some great coverage by the secondary, it gave Bradley Chubb just enough time to break from his defender and sack Flacco in the end zone.

How often do you hear two safeties scored by one team? Not very often. Either way, it gave the Broncos a 24-0 lead.

After the Broncos punted on their next possession, the Ravens got a chance to at least play for pride. But with just over a minute left in the game, the Broncos defense added one more score to the stat sheet. This one came by way of a Bradley Roby pick six.

After stiff arming Michael Crabtree, he took the Flacco interception 28 yards for the touchdown. It put a statement on what was a dominating performance by the Broncos defense. Perhaps the only positive thing that Baltimore had all game, other than the turnovers, was that they would block an extra point.

That would be the second kick in as many weeks that Denver’s opponent has blocked. This after the Raiders blocked a field goal that, at the time, would have sealed the game away for Denver.

Denver would wind the clock down and the Broncos finally get a game in which they were not sweating it out.

30. 45. 0. 26. Final

It was a completely dominating performance by the Denver Broncos defense. Baltimore never once crossed to the Broncos side of the field. In fact, they never got past their own 40 yard line. The Broncos defense recorded ten points on their own. (two safeties and a pick six touchdown)

The Broncos defense allowed only 32 total yards. Flacco threw two interceptions and passed for only 22 yards. That kind of performance outdoes what Denver did to Aaron Rodgers a few years back.

Case Keenum threw for over 300 yards in the rain. However, over 160 of those yards came on two plays to Emmanuel Sanders. Despite the limited targets to Sanders, he had a solid game. The turnovers were limited by the Broncos offense, but I still need work protecting the football.

Luckily, the defense came up big today. That sure looked like a Super Bowl caliber defense today. I do not see my final score matching Sunday’s game. But we shall see. Come back next week for the Monday night game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Denver is now 3-0 in my simulation.
