Denver Broncos: Five potential trade options to improve Denver’s secondary
By Andrew Wade
Mackensie Alexander, Vikings
Mackensie Alexander likely just needs a fresh start. He is stuck behind two former first-round corners (Xavier Rhodes and Trae Waynes) who are entrenched in their spots. Furthermore, the Vikings went out an added Central Florida product Mike Hughes as a late first-round pick in the 2018 draft.
Let’s not forget about Holton Hill, the former Texas corner who was arguably one of the top five most talented corners in the 2018 draft but has significant character concerns. Hill made the team as an undrafted free agent.
Alexander is a former second-round corner out of Clemson who hasn’t quite lived up to expectations in his tenure with Minnesota. In his two seasons and two games of 2018 that he has been in the NFL, he has never posted a Pro Football Focus rating above 54.1.
He is starting to get more consistent playing time, however, as he appeared in 54 snaps in week two against the Packers.
With three first-round corners on the roster and Alexander being a free agent after the 2019 season, it could make sense for the Vikings to part ways with the youngster in return for draft capital.
