Justin Simmons had a game-changing interception in week one against the Seattle Seahawks, which sort of masked his overall poor performance.

The third-year safety and a player many believe to be one of the best up-and-coming players at his position in the NFL is having a rough start to the season.

Against the Raiders, he allowed four receptions on four targets into his coverage for a total of 28 yards and the Raiders’ lone passing touchdown of the game.

That makes two weeks in a row now that Simmons has allowed a touchdown into his coverage, and that simply cannot continue. Simmons is the last line of defense, and has to be able to make better reads than he has been. The Broncos, in general, are giving up too many big plays. Simmons has also been known for his tackling ability in the past, but had a missed tackle in this game when he had some really bad form.

Simmons has to be better. The secondary as a whole has to be better, or the Broncos are going to have to look to some outside sources to get better.
