Denver Broncos win: How three phases performed vs. Raiders
By Tylor Walden
Special Teams
Marquette King did not get to score against his former team. But his punts in the early going helped out. He averaged 51 yards per punt. His longest registered at 66 yards. He did have one touchback. But overall, a solid game from him.
The team did not get to do much in the return game. Adam Jones only had one punt return, and it only went for one year. So, there is not much to report in that regard. Kickoff return never had a chance as every one of the Raiders’ kickoffs went for touchbacks.
The big man on campus for the special teams is Brandon McManus. He recorded two made extra points and two field goals. His last kick made him the hero for Broncos Country as he nailed a 36 yard field goal with just six seconds left in the game to give the Broncos a one point lead and eventually the win.
Another player that deserves props on special teams today is Shaquil Barrett. I mentioned this earlier, but he blocked a Raiders extra point in the first half. That proved to play a big part in the win. If that is not blocked, we could be seeing overtime at this point.
Big props for Brandon McManus and Shaquil Barrett for two plays that led to the win.
