Chargers @ Bills

Prediction: Bills 23, Chargers 20

The Los Angeles Chargers head to Buffalo to face rookie quarterback Josh Allen and the Bills. Sounds like a great matchup for L.A., right?

Not so fast.

Allen and the Bills will be facing a Chargers defense that will not have star pass rusher Joey Bosa. The absence of Bosa is good for Buffalo for multiple reasons.

For one, the Bills won’t have to worry about trying to scheme against one of the best pass rushers in the entire league. The former third-overall pick will be out with a nagging foot injury.

The Bills have a few noticeable names on defense that could pose problems for Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers and running back Melvin Gordon.

On the defensive line, they have Kyle Williams, Star Lotulelei, Trent Murphy, and Jerry Hughes. In the secondary, they have former Miami Dolphin and Indianapolis Colt cornerback Vontae Davis. They also have one of my favorite non-Broncos players: former Green Bay Packers safety Micah Hyde.

Despite giving up 47 points last week, I think the Bills’ defense rebounds. If Josh Allen and LeSean McCoy have very good games, they could beat the Chargers by more than one score.

I’m not sure that will happen, but I still think the Bills could edge out Los Angeles for the win.
