4. Oakland Raiders (lost to Los Angeles Rams 33-13)

Jon Gruden’s debut in Oakland could not have gotten off to a better start.

When the Raiders got the ball on offense, Gruden seemed to be calling all the right plays and his team was executing all the way down the field. The drive was capped off with a stellar effort from running back Marshawn Lynch and the Oakland offensive line, which essentially formed a rugby-style scrum and shoved Lynch and the football over the goal line.

As the line pushed Lynch into the end zone, the volume of Raider Nation escalated and if you didn’t know any better, you might have thought they just won the Super Bowl.

The atmosphere was electric, but the Raiders came crashing down to earth in an otherwise bad performance.

The Rams didn’t play a very good game either, but they were able to capitalize on three interceptions from Derek Carr, who also didn’t throw any touchdowns in this game.

In addition to turning the ball over three times, the Raiders as a team committed 155 yards worth of penalties (11 total infractions). They also allowed 5.4 yards per carry to Los Angeles.

How about the impact of not having Khalil Mack? The Raiders finished with just one sack and 2.5 tackles for loss as a team in this game. Yikes.

It wasn’t what the Oakland faithful had hoped for in Jon Gruden’s debut. After one week, they look like the worst team in the division.
