The Denver Broncos are shuffling the roster after their win in week one over the Seattle Seahawks, waiving Isaiah McKenzie and River Cracraft.

The Denver Broncos are always looking for ways to make the roster better, even after a victory.

The team didn’t utilize second-year return specialist Isaiah McKenzie in their win over the Seattle Seahawks (he was one of their seven inactives on the roster) and on Monday, they released him from the 53-man roster.

Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic was the first to report McKenzie had been waived from the 53-man roster, along with practice squad receiver River Cracraft.

As Jhabvala notes, Carlos Henderson is also of note here as he is taking Cracraft’s spot on the practice squad.

Henderson would have made the Broncos’ final roster as their WR6 had he showed up to training camp, but he missed all of camp and all of the preseason due to personal/family issues.

Henderson was also suspended the first game of the season, a suspension he has now served as a member of the Broncos’ practice squad.

He will take Cracraft’s spot but the spot McKenzie is vacating on the 53-man roster is not yet filled at this time. What the Broncos do there is anyone’s guess, though there’s been speculation they are interested in bringing back another safety, perhaps Shamarko Thomas.

The Broncos already had a tough time deciding which seven players to deactivate for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks, so it will be interesting to see what position they feel needs to be addressed. It would make sense since they were interested in five safeties on the roster to begin with that they would go that route.

Maybe John Elway will work some magic and bring De’Angelo Henderson back to the active roster off of the New York Jets’ practice squad. The Broncos did offer Henderson a practice squad spot, but he chose New York’s situation.

They have plenty of off-ball linebackers and chose not to utilize one of their six stellar defensive linemen on Sunday. Whoever is added to the 53-man roster, the Broncos don’t seem to necessarily need them on the 46-man gameday roster at this point in time.
