Second Quarter

The second quarter would start with a bang. Out of the shotgun, it seems Keenum sees something in the coverage. He audibles to the left and snaps the ball. With some great protection, Keenum throws it deep in the direction of Demaryius Thomas.

Getting behind his defender, Thomas makes the catch. Keenum’s pass was right on the money to where only Thomas would get it. And he would take it into the end zone for the second score of the game.

McManus would be true on the extra point again. Now it becomes a 14-0 Broncos lead.

Drive Summary: 4 Plays, 70 yards. Time of possession: 1:52

Seattle would get the football back. We take things to just over two minutes until halftime. Seattle drives, but is stalled when the Broncos stop a Russell Wilson quarterback scramble where he gets taken down at the 19 yard line. Sea Bass would convert on the 36-yard field goal to put the first points on the board for Seattle.

Drive Summary: 13 plays, 56 yards. Time of possession: 5:57

With just under two minutes left until half gives the Broncos plenty of time to get downfield for one more score. The offense looked as if they were on their way. Unfortunately, while in field goal range, Keenum tried to hit Emmanuel Sanders in stride, but Tedric Thompson jumped up and intercepted the pass.

Had Keenum thrown the ball a little bit higher, Sanders was all alone in the end zone. Seattle would run out the clock and take it to halftime. Denver looked sharp minus the final drive. And it showed with a 14-3 halftime lead.
