1. Royce Freeman, no. 28

As you may have heard, Royce Freeman is making the switch from number 37 to number 28.

Mercifully.

Number 37 should be reserved for a practice squad defensive back. No offense to those guys.

Freeman’s choice to wear number 28 will allow him to cement a legacy in Denver with that number, though some recent league greats have worn number 28, including future Hall of Famer Adrian Peterson.

Denver has not had the same type of success with the number 28, which was worn by former second-round pick Montee Ball after he was drafted in 2013.

Freeman wore number 21 at Oregon, but that number is obviously taken by Su’a Cravens.

With Freeman and Chubb, the Broncos will try to match what the New Orleans Saints did a year ago and have both the offensive and defensive rookie of the year. Now that Freeman has been named the team’s starting running back, he’s likely not looking back and should be a big-time playmaker for Denver for years to come.
