Denver Broncos roster: How the team acquired each player
Tight End
Jeff Heuerman (age 25)
The Broncos drafted Jeff Heuerman in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft (92nd overall). He’s currently in the fourth and final year of his rookie contract.
Jake Butt (age 23)
Jake Butt was one of the Denver Broncos’ fifth-round picks (145th overall) in the 2017 NFL Draft. He was on the non-football injury list his whole rookie season before ultimately being placed on injured reserve.
Matt LaCosse (age 25)
Before joining the Denver Broncos, Matt LaCosse was an undrafted free agent of the New York Giants out of Illinois. He was signed off the Giants’ practice squad by the Jets, then signed back with the Giants. After some time on their active roster/practice squad, LaCosse was poached by the Broncos from the Giants’ practice squad in 2017.
Brian Parker (Practice Squad, age 26)
Brian Parker is the elder statesman of the Broncos’ tight end position, having been signed as an undrafted player by the San Diego Chargers in 2015. He has floated around between San Diego, Kansas City, and New York before joining the Broncos’ practice squad in 2017. He signed a reserve/future deal in 2018 and was signed to the practice squad after being waived at final cuts.
Troy Fumagalli (IR, age 23)
Before placing him on season-ending injured reserve, the Broncos drafted Troy Fumagalli in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft (156th overall).
