Decision 1: Keeping three quarterbacks

Though the Broncos only kept Paxton Lynch for one day after the 53-man rosters had to be turned in, the decision to keep three quarterbacks on the active roster is a baffling one to me.

The Broncos replaced Lynch with Kevin Hogan, who — like Lynch — has very limited NFL game experience.

Even his limited experience is more than what Chad Kelly has right now with only four preseason appearances, but why do the Broncos need him around anyway?

Let’s take a look at a scenario involving Case Keenum suffering a serious injury. Are the Broncos saying, by adding Kevin Hogan, that their position has some type of stability it didn’t previously have?

Why would they not just ride it out with Chad Kelly at that point?

There’s really no point to having a third quarterback on the active roster unless, like Vance Joseph has said, you believe that player has franchise quarterback potential.

Does Hogan have that?

If not, then Joseph and the Broncos need to stand by their word and move on rather quickly.

If the Broncos are really that worried about the quarterback position, try and stash someone like Hogan on the practice squad.
