The Denver Broncos have made a roster move at an important position as the team claimed former Washington quarterback Kevin Hogan.

When the final 53-man roster was released, the team decided to go with three quarterbacks. That surprised some fans. Case Keenum, Chad Kelly, and Paxton Lynch were to remain with the Broncos. However, the latest waiver wire claim could spell the end of a former first round draft pick. According to multiple sources, the Broncos have claimed former Washington Redskins quarterback Kevin Hogan off waivers.

John Elway said at the presser on Saturday night that the team would look at the waiver wire and see if they can find any player that could work well with the team. The Broncos have claimed a quarterback less than 24 hours after final cuts.

There is absolutely no way the Denver Broncos are going to have four quarterbacks on the active roster. This move could ultimately put an end to the Paxton Lynch experiment. Because the Broncos claimed Hogan off waivers, he will not be eligible for the practice squad.

While this is a surprising move, it is clear as day that it was possible it would happen. Case Keenum is the clear-cut starter and Chad Kelly has performed well to secure the backup job. Minus one preseason game, Paxton Lynch continued to disappoint.

This move will likely make Kevin Hogan the third quarterback while we could see Paxton Lynch’s time with the Broncos come to an end. It is unfortunate because of how Paxton Lynch came into the league as a first round draft pick.

He had his chances, but couldn’t claim the starting job twice or the backup job. And all three were to seventh round quarterbacks.

The Broncos will make a corresponding move in the coming hours, but this move spells Kevin Hogan as the third quarterback, it appears.
