Inside Linebacker (6, 40/53)

Kept: Brandon Marshall, Todd Davis, Josey Jewell, Joseph Jones, Alexander Johnson, Keishawn Bierria
Cut: Zaire Anderson

The Broncos had seven inside linebackers on the roster going into their final preseason game, and they’re taking six with them onto the initial 53-man roster.

This is a position group where you would think the team is likely to make a sacrifice if someone comes along on waivers they really like because six is an obscene number.

I had been projecting three based on the number of players the Broncos might keep at other positions.

The Broncos feel like Joseph Jones is one of their best special teams guys. Alexander Johnson has made some flash plays in recent weeks as well. Keishawn Bierria had his best game of the preseason on Thursday but didn’t look great in the other games.

We’ll see what ultimately happens here but this is a major shock and the Broncos very obviously feel like half of these players are going to play a key role on special teams.
