Paxton Lynch – Traded

If I began writing this piece before the preseason finale against the Arizona Cardinals, I would have said that Paxton Lynch would be cut. Since he has two acquired NFL seasons under his belt, he would not be eligible for the practice squad.

After his performance against the Cardinals, I believe he might have added some trade value to himself. Denver was trailing Arizona 7-3 when Paxton Lynch came in. It was not a huge deficit. But seeing him in the last few games, he was not performing well for Broncos Country to back him.

But he led the Denver Broncos on an 18-0 run, completing 14 out of 15 passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Even better, he did not turn the ball over. Granted, his performance was against third string players, it was still a sight to see.

Because of his performance, I think Denver will look at finding a trade partner. There is also a chance the team will keep him. But there is no way he will be cut because it will cost the team more to cut him than keep him.

But Denver is no stranger to willing to bite their tongues and cut their losses with a lot of money tied in. For me, the only way Paxton Lynch is getting moved is via trade. It’ll be interesting to see what Elway does in this situation.
