Unless the coaches see something in quarterback Paxton Lynch that they feel is too good to give up on, the third-string quarterback is as good as gone.

Chad Kelly has been the second-string quarterback for the last couple of weeks after out-performing Lynch. The Broncos’ first-round pick in 2016 has not done himself any favors when it comes to making the Denver Broncos’ roster.

However, with a decent performance tonight in the second half vs the Arizona Cardinals, he could help the Broncos get more for him in a trade. If nobody puts in an offer for him before the cutdown deadline on Saturday, he will be released in favor of Kelly.

Coming out of Memphis in 2016, it was known that Lynch would need some time to develop. In limited action, however, he has shown signs, not of a quarterback who has potential, but of a guy who was simply not worth the cost the Broncos paid to get him in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Despite his poor performances as a Denver Bronco, he still should gain some interest from backup quarterback-needy teams.

Will he be signed by an NFL team when he’s done as a Bronco? Or will he look to take his talents to the Canadian Football League? That’s to be determined. But it sounds completely unlikely that he plays in another regular season game for the Broncos.
