Courtland Sutton, WR

As the draft rolled on I personally was shocked Courtland Sutton fell to the second round. There were rumblings the Dallas Cowboys and only the Cowboys would select the SMU product.

It never happened.

The Denver Broncos chose to add Sutton to their roster in the second round.

In Sutton’s college tape, there are obvious indications he was a big play wide receiver. However, we never imagined he would have this big of an impact as quick as he has.

During the Training Camp process, Sutton made every single defensive back look silly, winning 50/50 balls and making impossible catches look routine.

The best aspect of Sutton’s game is his outstanding catch radius. It does not matter the size of the throwing window — Case Keenum will throw the ball to Sutton. Sutton’s wingspan is so great, he can reach the impossible passes.

In preseason play, it became obvious that route running is the clear issue for Sutton. But against the Washington Redskins, Sutton destroyed veteran Josh Norman.

Keenum threw a beautiful pass, but it’s how Sutton started the route that makes it noteworthy.

Sutton stumbled out of his initial release allowing Norman to get in favorable position. Sutton adjusted so quickly to come back to the football, there was nothing Norman could have done to react.

You heard it here first: Sutton will be one of the best wideouts to ever don a Denver Broncos uniform.
